  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A former state worker has pleaded guilty to stealing food stamp benefits. Joseph Padilla admits he used his position within the Human Services Department to establish fraudulent accounts for himself and others.
  He was ordered to pay $181,000 in restitution and could face prison time as part of his plea deal.
  Padilla was one of six people charged for defrauding the program between 2009 and 2010.

  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The man who murdered and set a 75-year-old Santa Fe man on fire will spend 22 years in prison.
  Anthony Yepez and his girlfriend, Jeannie Ann Sandoval, choked then beat George Ortiz, 75, at a senior living facility in 2012. He was Sandoval’s step grandfather.
  The couple then poured cooking oil on him and set him on fire to try and get rid of the evidence.
  Sandoval is serving nine years.

  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police have confirmed that a suspect has killed himself in the East Mountains after a shooting from earlier on Tuesday. A witness identified the suspect’s vehicle and police were able to follow him into the East Mountains. When they arrived on scene, the suspect had committed suicide.
  Police say it all started on the 7900 block of Jacs NE in the North Valley. It happened Tuesday afternoon at an RV Park near Edith and Paseo Del Norte.

  ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police are investigating a shooting in the 7900 block of Jacs NE in the North Valley.
  It happened Tuesday afternoon at an RV Park near Edith and Paseo Del Norte.
  Albuquerque police say one person was critically injured in the shooting and has been taken to UNM Hospital. Police say the man had gunshot wounds to the neck.
  APD says the shooting stemmed from a fight between the victim and another man.
  At this time, police do not have anyone in custody.
