    (Telecompaper) Ireland has raised EUR 78 million in the sale of licences for 350 MHz of spectrum in the 3.6 GHz band. Vodafone Ireland acquired the most spectrum, at 190 MHz, followed by Meteor Mobile with 165 MHz and 3 Ireland with 100 MHz. The wireless ISP Imagine Communications bought 60 MHz in rural regions, and Airspan Spectrum Holdings, a new entrant and the UK arm of the US-based provider of 4G broadband wireless systems, obtained 85 MHz.

    Uganda parliament extends SIM card registration to 2018
    (Telecompaper) Uganda's Parliament has passed a motion extending the deadline for registering SIM cards by not more than one year, The Monitor reported. The motion was passed only 24 hours before 19 May cut-off point. The newspaper said it remains to be seen whether the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) will heed the House's resolution, as it had said it would not postpone the deadline a third time.
