  A man in Elmira, NY, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder after he tried to run over a police officer, according to WBNG-TV.Elmira police say an officer attempted to pull over 35-year-old Billy McGinnis on Wednesday afternoon when McGinnis accelerated, striking the officer and fleeing the scene.Police soon found the stolen Acura sedan and took McGinnis into custody.The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
