• Housing and office new work jump fuels output recovery

  A steep rise in private new housing and commercial work returned construction to growth in August.
  Monthly construction output increased by 0.4% in volume terms in August, offsetting a decrease of 0.4% in July.
  The recovery was driven by a 1.6% growth spurt in new work, as repair and maintenance fell by 1.0%.At the sector level, five out of the nine sectors grew. The main contributors to the monthly increase were private housing new work, up 3.4% and private commercial new work, up 2.2%.

  Transport for London has picked AECOM and WW+P to deliver the feasibility study on four new stations as part of the Bakerloo Line Extension project.

  A digger reported stolen from an East Dorset construction site has been successfully located four months later by police officers in Poland.
  Dorset Police received a report in April that a Hitachi digger and JCB digger were stolen from a site in Ferndown.
