    Steelwork specialist JDP margin hits 12%
    Scotland’s biggestg constructional steelwork contractor J&D Pierce (Contracts) saw margins enter double figures despite a sharp fall in revenue last year.
    The Ayshire firm, which was bought by Sweden’s Storskogen Group two years ago,  saw pre-tax profit hold firm at £10.5m as revenue slipped to £104m from £138m, adjusted to a pro-rata basis from in the previous 17-month year.

  • Giant £3bn Humber AI data centre campus approved

    Outline plans for a 3m sq ft data centre campus at South Killingholme near Grimsby in Lincolnshire have been nodded through by the local council.
    Developer Humber Tech Park said the ambitious plan would create one of the largest AI data centre campuses in Europe and represented an opportunity to secure a £2.2bn to £3bn investment in the area.
    The plan includes three large buildings, offices and a 300,000 sq ft horticultural glass house with possible district heating system.

    Essex County Council has pared down its partner firms from 18 to 11 for its third-generation construction framework.
    Newcomer Cadman Construction and previous partners Kier, Morgan Sindall and R G Carter secured places on the major project lot for building and maintenance jobs valued over £4m.

    Mace wins £88m University of East Anglia revamp
    Mace has secured the job to upgrade and expand the University of East Anglia’s celebrated brutalist grade II-listed Lasdun building at its Norwich campus.
    The firm has secured the first phase of prestigious revamp with an £88m bid, beating rival Vinci.
    Built in the 1960s, the teaching and science building, later called the ‘Lasdun Wall’, comprises four buildings constructed to appear as one – Building 3, Building 4, Building 5 and Building 6.
