    26 face fight to renew spots on £1bn NEPO civils deal
    The North East Procurement Organisation has started the race for its next-generation civils and infrastructure framework worth an estimated £1bn.
    Twenty-six firms now face a fight to renew their places on the framework which now has a simplified lotting structure for firms delivering projects in the north east and nationally.

    Morgan Sindall wins £32m Walsall waste centre
    Morgan Sindall has been awarded a £32m contract by Walsall Council for the construction of a new Household Waste Recycling Centre and Waste Transfer Station at Middlemore Lane.
    The centre will be built on a six-hectare site formerly occupied by McKechnie Brass Ltd.

    String of contract wins sees turnover surge 25% at Mace
    Mace enjoyed a 25% rise in turnover last year helped by 60 contract wins at the main construction division.
    Revenue rose to £2.36bn for the year to December 31 2023 from £1.89bn last time while pre-tax profits from continuing operations hit £61.7m from  £36.7m.

  • Go-ahead for £170m King’s Cross life sciences office project

    Developer Delancey has secured planning for a landmark commercial building at the King Cross knowledge quarter in London.
    The 200,000 sq ft life sciences and technology-focused building will be built on a brownfield site on York Way.
    Delancey said it now hopes to start on site next year with construction completed in 2028. It is expected to cost around £170m to build and will employ an average of 300 workers a year during the 31-month demolition and construction programme.
