    Materials supplier Breedon has bought Midlands road surfacing contractor Phoenix as it continues to build up its Surfacing Solutions operation.
    The latest deal follows the successful integration of Minster Surfacing last year, and the 2022 acquisition of Thomas Bow, a surfacing and civil engineering contractor based in the East Midlands.

    Government 55-day average payment rule comes into force
    Contractors bidding for public works contracts worth over £5m must demonstrate they pay all invoices within 55 days, or face a public work ban.
