• Worker dies in fall through unguarded gap in scaffold

  A construction company in Kent has been fined £25,000 and ordered to pay £83,842.34 in costs after after a subcontractor fell and died from his injuries.
  Mark Tolley, 51, fell nearly two metres through an opening in a scaffold on 5 July 2017 while working on the construction of six houses on Smarden Road in Headcorn, Kent.

• Local council to insist on contractor mental health checks

  Halton Borough Council is now insisting that all main contractors bidding to win work from it have to “include a scored statement around mental health well being amongst all staff and subcontractors as part of the process.”
  The council near Liverpool said it is the first local authority in the country to mandate mental health checks before  awarding work.

• Everton stadium cladding firm files administration notice

  Alucraft Systems Ltd had filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator.
  The Staffordshire based cladding specialist started its highest-profile project to date last May to deliver the curtain walling, aluminium rainscreen and composite cladding to the new Everton Football Stadium.

• Beard expands reach as revenue hits record £179m
