    High Court dismisses Stonehenge tunnel challenge
    Campaigners have lost a High Court challenge against the Government’s renewed plans to build a tunnel near the historic Stonehenge site.
    The campaigners were challenging the Government’s development consent order last summer for the A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down upgrade.
    Previously Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site campaigners succeeded in blocking progress on the project after the High Court in July 2021 quashed the scheme over concerns about the environmental impact on the site.B

    Belgian steelwork specialist Victor Buyck has jacked in the first 300-tonne steel viaduct section on HS2’s complex Delta Junction project.
    Working for the Balfour Beatty Vinci JV, it took the firm 11.5 hours using push-pull jacking to install the 84m long section.It is the first section of two 158m viaducts which will take high speed trains over the M42/M6 link roads in North Warwickshire.

    The Government has granted approval to build the world’s first gas-fired power station with carbon capture, usage and storage capability on Teesside.

    Privately-owned contractor McLaughlin & Harvey fell £8.5m into the red last year after suffering losses principally at its Northern Ireland construction business and Scottish environmental arm.

    Unite Students to build £250m Newcastle scheme
    Unite Students has signed a joint venture with Newcastle University to develop 2,000 new student beds at the Castle Leazes site.

    Two scaffolding specialists owned by the same firm have filed notices of intention to appoint an administrator.
    South London based BCM Scaffolding Services and Bristol based Scaffteq West lodged the court notices last week.

    The Office of Rail and Road has opened an investigation into National Highways and its delivery of schemes after a concerning performance dip.
