    IHP wins £100m Derbyshire mental health projects
    Integrated Health Projects has signed off a £100m deal with Derbyshire Healthcare Trust to design and build two 54-bed mental health facilities.
    The Vinci/McAlpine joint venture will build the new Adult Acute Care units at the Kingsway Hospital in Derby and in the grounds of Chesterfield Royal Hospital, the former also including a 14-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit.
    Both AAU facilities will provide single, en-suite rooms, replacing the current male facilities in Derby and Chesterfield

    £500m southern highways framework up for renewal
    Hampshire County Council has started tendering to appoint a fresh line-up of contractors for its fifth-generation civils and highways framework covering the south of England.
    The council is the lead procurement body for the framework, which will come into force next year, and could see a spend of up to £500m over the four-year term.
    Among incumbent contractors set to fight to retain places are: Dyer and Butler; Eurovia UK; Farrans; Jackson Civil Engineering; Graham;  Kier; Knight

    Engineering losses halve Briggs & Forrester profit
    Briggs & Forrester Group saw pre-tax profit halve to £1.6m after suffering a £1.6m loss at its engineering services arm due to project delays and cost inflation.
    The engineering services arm, which is the largest division within the group, has now been streamlined with operations rationalised from four to two regions: the South East and Western to bring significant overhead savings.
    Across the Northamptonshire-based group revenue for the year remained stable at £229m.Group

    Plans in for University of East London campus expansion
    The University of East London has submitted plans for 650 student rooms and further teaching facilities at its Stratford campus.
    The plans will see three interconnected buildings added to the existing site providing around 280,000 sq ft of new space.
    UEL’s compus expansion will include a landmark 16-storey student accommodation block.
    Next to it will be built a large U-shaped footprint 6-storey mixed-use building providing 60,000 sq ft of extra residential space, a health and wellness cent

    Align hits key milestone on HS2 Colne Valley viaduct
    HS2’s main works contractor Align JV has completed the first set of V-shaped bridge piers for what will be UK’s longest railway bridge
    The  V-piers are designed to support the viaduct deck over a series of lakes the Colne Valley Viaduct crosses between the end of the London tunnels and the start of the Chiltern tunnels.
    Designed to bear the weight of the 80m wide arches over the lakes, the ‘v-piers’ are twice as large as simpler piers that carry the viaduct over land
