• Griffiths Farrans JV wins final part of A52 upgrade

    National Highways has appointed Griffiths Farrans Joint Venture (GFJV) as the main contractor to deliver the final part of a major upgrade to the A52 in Nottingham.
    GFJV will design and construct the remaining two junctions at Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft with work expected to start in September 2024 and finish in 2026/27.

  • Sir James Wates to step down as Wates chairman

    Sir James Wates has said he will be stepping down as chairman of the privately-owned Wates Group this May.
    He will be succeeded by his cousin Tim Wates, who is currently deputy chairman.
    Sir James said: “I have enjoyed my 10 years as chairman enormously, and the time is now right to pass the baton over to my cousin Tim.“I look forward to continuing to serve on the board and being actively involved in the business, including representing Wates in external forums.”

    Anglian Water has submitted plans for the most southerly section of its new multi-million-pound water main network.
    Hundreds of kilometres of new interconnecting pipelines – stretching from North Lincolnshire, through Cambridgeshire, to Suffolk and Essex – will be laid as part of the scheme.

    Essex based cladding contractor SD Samuels (Special Projects) Ltd has filed a Notice of Intention to appoint an administrator .
    The building envelope specialist has been in business since 2004 and is a preferred supplier to a raft of major contractors including Ashe, ISG, Kier, Morgan Sindall, Vinci and Willmott Dixon.
