    Balfour Beatty, Costain, Kier and Keltbray have signed a contract to deliver the £1.3bn A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project.
    The firms are to work under an enterprise-wide collaborative working agreement to dual the remaining 18-mile single carriageway sections of the road and key junctions between M6 Junction 40 (Penrith) and the A1 at Scotch Corner improved.

  • Train hits hand trolley left by rail maintenance crew

    Rail investigators have released a report after a hand trolley was hit by a passenger train after being left on the line by an overnight maintenance crew.
    The train travelling at 123 mph last October near Challow, Oxfordshire destroyed the trolley on impact. There were no injuries among the passengers or crew on board and the train did not derail.

    The race has started for places on the next-generation framework for civil engineering projects in South Wales.
