    O’Donovan Waste Disposal is switching its entire fleet to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
    The business operates with a fleet of 100 HGVs, serving the construction and demolition sectors throughout London and the Home Counties.
    HVO is a sustainable and 100% renewable fuel that eliminates up to 90% of net carbon dioxide emissions.  The green alternative fuel reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) by up to 30%, particulate matter (PM) by up to 86% and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions by up to 90%.

    The UK’s largest roofing contractor has fallen into administration.
    Begbies Traynor is now in charge of Avonside Group Services which employs 465 people and installs more than 17,000 roofs a year for house builders via its 39-strong branch network across the UK.

  • Vistry beats first half profit expectations

    House builder Vistry has shrugged off rising cost inflation in the first half to deliver profits ahead of management expectations.
    Adjusted pre-tax profit rose by 14% to £190m in the first six months of this year. Although after taking account of already announced additional fire safety provisions of £71m, statutory pre-tax profit fell to £111m from £156m a year ago.

    British Steel has hit the construction industry with the second big price hike in three weeks blaming extreme energy prices.
    The producer raised structural section prices on 15 August by £100 a tonne, which had been largely anticipated by constructional steelwork contractors.

  • Tunnelling starts at Silvertown crossing

    Tunnelling at the river crossing at Silvertown is now underway.
    Transport for London and main contractor Riverlinx have confirmed that work has now started  on the 1.4km drive for the Silvertown Tunnel which will link Newham to the Greenwich Peninsula.
    The project is being built by a joint venture between BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Construction and SK Ecoplant, known as Riverlinx Construction.

  • Kier gets go-ahead for £50m Fitzrovia office and resi job

    Developer M&G Real Estate and development manager CO-RE have given Kier the green light to start work on a major office and residential scheme on Tottenham Court Road in London.
