• Network Rail fined £1.4m after worker crushed by track machines

  Network Rail has been fined £1.4m after a worker was crushed between the conveyor of a 25 tonne ‘Superboss’ ballast distributor and a Kubota people carrier.The worker suffered catastrophic and life-changing injuries to his legs and spine.
  He lost 12cm of bone to his left leg and 4cm to his right leg. The tendons and nerves of his right leg were also irreparably damaged, causing permanent disability.

  Teneo has been appointed as administrator at House by Urban Splash.
  The Enquirer revealed yesterday that staff had been sent home at the modular housing business following a shock company-wide teams call.
  A total of 160 staff have been made redundant at its Derbyshire factory and sites across the country.The modular business was demerged from regeneration giant Urban Splash in 2019 when Japan’s biggest house builder Sekisui House and Homes England invested £55m in the business.

• Kier picked for £350m Leatherhead regen plan

  Mole Valley District Council has signed up Kier Property as its joint venture partner to lead the £350m regeneration of Leatherhead town centre in Surrey.

• Office work uplift returns construction output to growth

  Construction output returned to 1.7% growth in March after sliding during the storms in February, helped by private housing repair and maintenance and new commercial work.
