    Marchetti telescopic crawler cranes go electric
    Manufacturer Marchetti has launched two electric versions of its popular 25 tons CW25.35 Sherpina telescopic crawler crane which are now available from UK dealer AGD Equipment Ltd.
    In the hybrid version with battery there is a small Stage 5 diesel engine which serves only to charge the batteries when it is not possible to connect to the mains to recharge them. In this version the CW25.35 is always driven by an electric motor.

    Green light for 1,200-home London Greenwich scheme
    Housing association Hyde has gained planning to build 1,200 homes within the large Charlton Riverside regeneration area in the London Borough of Greenwich.
    The first phase will see 718 energy-efficient homes built, as well as commercial units at Herringham Road and New Lydenburg Street, close to the Thames Barrier, in blocks of up to 10 storeys. Around a third will be let at London Affordable Rent.
    Hyde also gained outline permission for a further 494 homes to be delivered in a future phase.

    Developer Alumno has given the green light for GMI Construction to start site works on a 411-bed student scheme in Leeds.

    Exeter Uni starts contest for £185m student rooms scheme
    The University of Exter is starting procurement to find a partner to design, build, finance and operate nearly 1,790 new student rooms at its Streatham campus.
    The development plans would involve the demolition of twelve accommodation blocks and three other large outdated buildings in the Clydesdale and Nash Grove area.
    Eight new blocks would then be constructed on the 15-acre development site, which is expected to cost around £185m to deliver.

    Inland Homes has sold Phase 1B at its Cheshunt Lakeside scheme to leading build to rent operator London BTR Investments.
    The sale of the land led to a build contract for 205 homes to Inland Partnerships, the construction division of the Group.
