    Go-ahead for 22,000-seat Southend FC stadium
    Southend United has got the planning green light for a new 22,000 capacity stadium with an enabling hotel and flats scheme.
    The decision on the club’s stadium will next go to the government for approval.
    The club has said it hopes to start work on the project as soon as it obtains full consent in the first quarter of 2022.Designed by architect Populous, it will be built at Fossetts Farm to replace the existing Roots Hall stadium.
