  Willmott Dixon has been formally appointed as main contractor on a £60m scheme to build 242 new apartments for rent and a Hampton by Hilton hotel in Rochdale town centre.

• Worker hit as sheet pile falls from excavator

  Britcon (UK) Ltd has been fined £570,000 for safety breaches after a worker was struck by a falling load from a mechanical excavator.
