    BC’s Foody World shut down for Listeria contamination
    Vancouver Coastal Health inspectors have shut down a popular international grocery store and its kitchens, and they promise the Foody World at 3000 Sexsmith Road in Richmond will only be reopened when all health and food safety standards are met.
    In the meantime, the Foody World in Richmond, B.C. is also under a public health warning for it’s fresh produce and ready-to-eat foods made in the grocery store. At least six people have been hospitalized with symptoms of Listeria, including fever

    Reserve-LA-based National Meat and Provisions late Friday recalled approximately 2,349 pounds of beef and veal products that may be contaminated with E. coli O26, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
    The raw non-intact beef and veal items were produced and packaged on Sept. 14-15, 2016. The following products are included in the recall:
    51.40-lb. of VACUUM-PACKED “BEEF GROUND COMPANY BURGER BLEND,” packed on 9/14/2016 with

    Tyson’s recalls popcorn chicken shipped with unwanted plastic
    Tyson Foods at New Holland, PA Saturday recalled approximately 1,148 pounds of frozen popcorn chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically hard plastic, according to  the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
    The frozen, ready-to-eat, whole grain popcorn chicken items were produced on August 10, 2016. The following products are subject to recall:
    35 cases of 32.79-lb. “TYSON FULLY COOKED, WHOLE GRAIN GOLD

    Outbreak tied to strawberries slowing; victims sue Sysco Corp.
    New cases of Hepatitis A infections linked to strawberry smoothies have slowed so much that the state hardest hit, Virginia, is no longer providing daily updates.
    In a weekly update, posted Thursday, the Virginia Department of Health reported 107 people who have tested positive for Hepatitis A reported drinking  smoothies Tropical Smoothie Café prior to becoming ill.

    Humane Society says egg carton artwork is false advertising
    Cartoon chickens roaming green fields near a ruby red barn constitute false advertising as far as the Humane Society of the U.S. is concerned when it comes to Davidson’s brand eggs.
    The animal welfare group filed a complaint Friday with the Federal Trade Commission citing the artwork on Davidson’s branded eggs from National Pasteurized Eggs of Lansing, IL. The Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS) contends the egg carton artwork misleads consumers about how the eggs are produced.
