Alcide J. “Jim” Champagne, 94, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016. He was born April 3, 1921, in Southbridge, Mass., to the late Napoleon and Alice Champagne. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, where he was a member of the 450th Bomb Group and was in the 722nd Squadron based in Manduria, Italy. His plane was shot down during one of the missions he was on and he was captured by the Germans and was a POW for 14 months. The last 81 days of his captivity,

The Rev. Raymond Harold Teague, 93, a lifelong resident of Crawford County passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, in Fort Smith. He was born July 27, 1922, in Mountainburg to the late Benjamin Newton Teague and Flossie (Warren) Teague. He was retired from Arkhola Sand and Gravel as a mail carrier and prior to that, was a superintendent at Ayers Industries in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Hawaii, Korea, the Philippines and Guam, and he fought in the Battle of Okinawa

Jack Newhart, 77, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, in his home in his hometown of Charleston. Jack was born in 1938, the oldest of Dorothy and Lindel Newhart’s three sons. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill and Dan.
