    (Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – There have been more signs of West Nile Virus activity reported in Connecticut.
    The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station is reporting mosquitoes trapped in four towns have tested positive for the disease.
    Scientists say those mosquitoes were trapped in West Haven, Stratford, Westport, and Greenwich.
    That brings to seven, the number of mosquitoes trapped that have tested positive for WNV.

    STAMFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut and AP) – A Connecticut man who was convicted of killing a cab driver who was stabbed 127 times has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after having testified that he acted in self-defense.
    Shota Mekoshvili was sentenced to the maximum prison time on a murder conviction Tuesday in Stamford Superior Court.
    Prosecutors say the 32-year-old Stamford man killed Mahomed Kamal during a botched robbery in August 2014.

    NEW YORK (CBS Connecticut and AP) – United Technologies Corp. on Tuesday reported a boost in second-quarter profit on sales gains from key business units while also raising its outlook.
    The maker of elevators, jet engines and other products reported a 4.4 percent increase in profit to $1.44 billion, or $1.80 per share. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs, came to $1.85 per share.

    Twenty-year-old Charles Worthington was picked up at his Lilac Street home, police said.
