ATSB probes double fatality in Brisbane light plane accident

Qantas investigates after dramatic NZ diversion
Flight QF122 from Queenstown to Sydney on Saturday, operated by VH-VZQ (similar aircraft pictured), landed safely in Christchurch after passengers reportedly heard loud bangs and saw flames from its left-hand engine. Engineers arrived in Christchurch on Sunday to inspect the aircraft. -

New Melbourne Airport transport zones to open next month

Rex Saab in aborted take-off had engine damage, says ATSB
VH-ZPN was preparing to depart for Broken Hill on 8 October 2025 with two flight crew, one cabin crew, and 23 passengers on board when its left engine failed during the take-off roll. As it was before the V1 decision speed, the pilots opted to abort the take-off and taxied off the runway. -
