    A complex web of lawsuits and countersuits still continues around the failed attempt four years ago to get passenger train service from Sault Ste. Marie to Hearst running.
    Railmark Canada Ltd. is claiming $33 million in damages against the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corp., the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Thomas Dobbs and Transport Canada.

    Mayor Christian Provenzano is confident that the US tariffs imposed on Canadian steel and aluminum will be lifted shortly.
    Provenzano was part of a delegation led by Algoma Steel Inc., who travelled to Ottawa to meet government officials and make a presentation on the issue.

    City police have charged a 28-year-old male with several charges in connection with a break and enter.
    Police alleged that a male took a number of items from a Summit Avenue shed on Feb. 28.
    When the accused was taken into custody on March 5 he was found in possession of numerous items believed to be taken from the shed, break in tools and a small amount of purple powder believed to be fentanyl.
