  Women are finding leadership roles in B.C.’s life sciences sector in greater numbers than other parts of the economy, according to a pair of new reports from Minerva B.C.
  Women are particularly well-represented in the upper management of life science firms such as Zymeworks (43 per cent), LifeLabs (38 per cent) and Stemcell Technologies (43 per cent).

  FORT ST. JOHN — Thirteen livestock on a farm in northeastern B.C. died of naturally acquired anthrax, a bacteria that the provincial Agriculture Ministry says can remain dormant in certain soil conditions for many years.
  The ministry says in a statement that the animals are thought to have contracted the disease from exposure to dormant anthrax spores in the soil of a feeding site on a farm near Fort St. John.

  A donor has given the B.C. Cancer Foundation $18.35 million, but insists on remaining anonymous.
  The foundation says it is not permitted to disclose anything about the donor, including whether they are alive or dead. But the individual has given the foundation a total of $29 million over their lifetime, including the latest amount. That makes it a record in individual lifetime giving to the foundation.
  The largest single gift came from an estate — the Jambor McCarthy gift of $21.4 million.

  A Surrey pastor and his son, along with a White Rock man, defrauded investors out of $450,000 in a real estate investment scheme, says the B.C. Securities Commission.
  A BCSC panel has found that Alan and Jerry Braun, and Steven Maxwell (a.k.a. Steven Fassman), committed fraud when they took the money from two backers that believed they were investing in real estate in Edmonton.

  The body of a Vancouver Island father missing since May has been found, says his family. His death is not considered suspicious.
  Family confirmed Ben Kilmer was found on Oct. 17 in a remote area of Duncan.
