  A coast guard rescue vessel plucked 35 passengers and crew from a whale-watching boat reported to be on fire near Bowen Island on Tuesday afternoon.
  The Jing Yu, a 42-foot passenger craft operated by Wild Whales Vancouver tours on Granville Island, encountered mechanical difficulties 10 kilometres southwest of Bowen.

  TRAIL — A break-in at a water reservoir in southeastern British Columbia has prompted an advisory for residents in one Trail neighbourhood.
  Residents of Columbia Heights in West Trail are being told to switch to bottled water.
  The notice, posted online on Monday, says a break-in occurred over the weekend at the Lower Lookout Reservoir.

  TORONTO — Luxury home sales in two of Canada’s most expensive markets are down from a year, as the high-end real estate market feels the effect of foreign buyers taxes.
  In an annual report, realty brokerage Re/Max says sales of single-detached homes priced from $1 million to $2 million fell 35 per cent from a year ago in both Toronto and Vancouver.
