  A woman in her 30s is dead after being struck by a vehicle late Thursday in Maple Ridge.
  Ridge Meadows Mounties now confirm they are investigating the incident as a fatal hit and run.

  An elderly couple escaped their burning house early Friday morning in the District of North Vancouver.
  But it was a tense morning for the couple, who thought that their adult son was trapped in the basement as fire crews battled the blaze.

• Lougheed Highway closed in Maple Ridge after pedestrian hit

  A section of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge is closed because of a crash involving a pedestrian.
  Traffic reports say the highway is shut down between 216th Street and 222nd Street as police investigate the collision, which happened Thursday night.
  There is no word yet from RCMP on the condition of the pedestrian.
