Powerful presence, silent service: Gaggenau’s Dishwasher 400 Series
via indesignlive.com
The inherent abundance of absence is one of the most precise expressions of highly-considered design. The sculptural potential of negative space to define form, the transformative capability of an inconspicuous palette to silently add depth and amplify textures – and the inaudible hum of masterful engineering and craftsmanship that speak volumes without making a noise. The true marker of a commanding presence is its ability to seamlessly merge into its environment with the unwavering confi -
Product launches from Milan Design Week 2025
via indesignlive.com
You’ve seen the lighting standouts in our Euroluce Report, and even some lesser known installation highlights. Now it’s time for more product launches that took centre stage at Milan Design Week 2025, but away from lighting and towards furniture. There is, of course, the usual caveat: Milan is simply so big that it’s impossible to capture it all. With our team there on the ground this year, however, we can bring you some of the most exciting objects that we saw, touched and exp -
Euroluce Report: Your guide to the lights of Milan 2025
via indesignlive.com
ViabizzunoAt their ever-impressive showroom in central Milan, VBO showcased some seriously impressive new lighting products this year. These collections come as collaborative efforts with internationally renowned designers, and we begin with Dorte Mandrup. Oltre is a suspension light fitting for indoor use made of polished aluminium and onyx, polished aluminium and pink marble. The effect of this composition of materials is mesmerising, even achieving an optical illusion from a certain angle whe -
Classroom-meets-workplace at DesignInc’s new UNSW CBD campus
via indesignlive.com
The University of New South Wales (UNSW) turned to DesignInc to create its new CBD campus: aligning with their world-class standings as a top-tier university and establishing a state-of-the-art environment for professional students. The solution lay on George Street in a vacant two-storey commercial space in the Poly Centre, 12 kilometres away from UNSW’s main campus. With its central location and excellent transport interchanges of Circular Quay, Wynyard and Town Hall close by, -
Streets as convivial, social spaces
The 15-minute city has immense potential, but only if the one-minute cities within are thriving, owned and produced by the streets themselves. -

Exhibitions and installations galore from Milan
via indesignlive.com
When the Italian design capital plays host each year to Salone del Mobile and all of the dizzyingly extensive accompanying events, there is certainly no shortage of standout installations. Brands and designers vie with each other not only in their latest product launches but also in how they ‘activate’ various spaces. These might be their own showrooms or studios in the city, or a stand within the fair itself; or indeed a neutral (and no doubt historically impressive) venue in Milan.
