On 15 September the Senate voted 32 to 22 to stop Senator Michaelia Cash’s Sex Discrimination Amendment (Restoring Common Sense and Recognising Biological Sex) Bill 2026 from coming back onto the agenda. Every Labor and Greens senator present voted against it, along with independents David Pocock and Fatima Payman. The Coalition, One Nation and the UAP’s Ralph Babet voted for it.
