  The Canadian Red Cross has a launched an appeal for donations to help people affected by this summer’s B.C. wildfires.
  More than 1,500 properties are under evacuation order and another 10,000 are on alert with residents told to be ready to leave on short notice as 560 wildfires burn continue to burn across the province.

• Capsized tug now out of the water at the mouth of B.C.'s Fraser River

  A tug that capsized and sank a the mouth of the Fraser River off Vancouver has now been pulled from the water.
  The 19-metre-long George H. Ledcor went down Monday night while hauling a loaded gravel barge on the north arm of the Fraser River not far from Vancouver International Airport.
  David Hoff with Ledcor Group, the operator of the tug, says the vessel was lifted out of the water this morning and crews are now preparing to drain potentially contaminated water from its hull.

  INVERMERE — A 52-year-old woman and her dog are both safe and unharmed after wandering lost for 72 hours in the thick woods in southeastern B.C.
  RCMP Sgt. Chris Newel says Louise Baxter hopped off a rescue helicopter Wednesday, hugged her husband and was talking and laughing with her rescuers.
  Baxter went out for a hike with friends in the Jumbo Pass area on Sunday, but she disappeared after taking her leashed dog out for what she said would be a short walk.

  RCMP are enforcing a court injunction this morning and are removing Trans Mountain pipeline protesters who have been camped outside a Kinder Morgan terminal in Burnaby.

  Salvage crews partially raised a sunken tug from the Fraser River on Wednesday and were aiming to have it floating by the evening.
