Abstract artist Chrissy Yendell is featured in a solo exhibition at Sault Ste. Marie Museum. Time in Colour runs from Tuesday to Sept. 4, a release said. “ I believe creativity has the power to foster curiosity, connection, and new ways of seeing the world,” said Yendell. A home, garage and vehicle were badly damaged in a fire in the west end last Thursday.Sault Se. Marie Fire Services went to the 0 to 100 block of Prentice Avenue at about 5:30 p.m., a release says.The fire started in a detached garage. The fire’s cause is undetermined because of the amount of damage to the structure. There was fire and heat exposure damage to two neighbouring homes. No one was hurt. -
Cement truck gets stuck under bridge in Algoma Mills

A highway in Township of the North Shore was closed for more than 10 hours after a cement truck became stuck beneath a railway bridge on Thursday.The bridge was on Highway 538, near Channelview Road, in Algoma Mills, Ontario Provincial Police say. A train stop went into effect. The roadway was closed for more than 11 hours.The driver, 67, from Elliot Lake, was charged with careless driving.Police do not release names of persons charged under the Highway Traffic Act. -

A man who wasn’t supposed to drink alcohol was allegedly found intoxicated at a business in Blind River.The male was sleeping at a picnic table at a motel on Martin Street early Friday, Ontario Provincial Police say.Lowell Linekar, 41, of Blind River, was charged with failure to comply with undertaking and being intoxicated in a public place.
