Outgoing NCC head says agency has plan 'ready to go' if RendezVous LeBreton tanks
The outgoing chief executive of the National Capital Commission suggested Thursday that the federal agency would immediately work to build a new community on LeBreton Flats if RendezVous LeBreton Group tanks at the end of February.
The NCC has prepared “a viable alternative approach” to the transformation of the contaminated land near downtown and that plan is ready to go, Mark Kristmanson said.

Sex assault victim asks court to lift publication ban in her case
An Ottawa-area woman sexually assaulted by a man who claimed to be asleep at the time has asked the court to lift the publication ban that protects her identity.
The woman has filed an application with the court so that she can speak publicly about the case of Ryan Hartman, a 38-year-old truck driver who is trying to have his sexual assault conviction stayed because of “unreasonable delays” in his trial and sentencing.
“Ultimately, I think that if other people see my face, I be -
Mayor Watson tours LRT system, feels 'optimistic' about March handover
Mayor Jim Watson says he feels confident about the construction progress of the Confederation Line LRT after riding a train through the downtown tunnel this week.
Perhaps most importantly, Watson and city officials took time during the tour Tuesday to examine Rideau Station, which still looked like a full-on construction zone when city staff showed pictures to council members late last summer.
“We saw the pictures from six months ago and it’s (now) a world of difference. It looks lik -

The good news is that the woman and two people who helped her make the arrest were given a six- to 12-month conditional discharge. They will have no criminal records if the conditions are met. But I wonder how many of us would act differently if faced with -
