Four dogs died in a fire Sunday at a home on Woodroffe Avenue between Hunt Club and Slack Road.
No people were injured, said officials at Ottawa Fire Services, but the Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army are helping residents who were displaced.
The blaze at 1757 Woodroffe Avenue was under control shortly after 3 p.m. Losses for the two-storey detached home are estimated at $250,000.
An OC Transpo bus was on the scene so firefighters could warm up as they battled the blaze in frigid temperatur

Enbridge Gas has reconnected the gaslines for all but four of the residents in Blackburn Hamlet after the area was hit by a twin gas main and water pipe break early Friday.
About 550 customers were affected by the gas outage after an Enbridge contractor hit a gas line, Innes ward Coun. Laura Dudas said.

Enbridge Gas continued to reconnect a small group of residents to gaslines in a Blackburn Hamlet district on Saturday night after the area was hit by a twin gas main and water pipe break early Friday.
About 550 customers were affected by the gas outage after an Enbridge contractor hit a gas line, Innes ward Coun. Laura Dudas said. That incident also forced the city to stop work on a water valve, which meant 60 to 70 residents lost that service.

Fire crews found the body of a man feared dead after a flash fire destroyed an isolated home on Kawartha Road in the Breckenridge district of the Pontiac municipality, police for MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais said.

Hundreds brave the wind chill for third annual women's march
Maria Giroux, 17, was not fazed by the the bitter cold that enveloped her first protest on Parliament Hill Saturday morning.
“I can’t really feel the cold,” said the St. Paul High School student, who was among a crowd of about 600 at the third annual women’s march.
“I’m just really excited.”
The gathering brought together people concerned about gender-based violence, discrimination against women and a wide range of other issues.
