Ottawa police accept offer for help from TSB in Transitway crash, Bordeleau says
Ottawa police have accepted an offer for technical assistance from the Transportation Safety Board in investigating the deadly Westboro Station bus crash last week, Chief Charles Bordeleau announced Wednesday.
Bordeleau said the Ottawa police will remain the primary investigators in the crash, that his force had been talking to the TSB since Friday night to get them involved.
He said about 80 per cent of the passengers on the bus have been in contact with the police service so far.

Skiers briefly stuck on chair lifts as power outages strike West Quebec
About 3,500 people in West Quebec lost power Wednesday morning in two outages that stretched from just north of Gatineau nearly to Farrelton.
The outage included Sommet Edelweiss ski centre where skiers were briefly stranded on lifts until a generator kicked in.

Ice boat pilot, 78, dead after Bay of Quinte crash
The OPP is warning the public about unsafe ice conditions after a 78-year-old Ameliasburgh man died Tuesday when his ice boat struck a pressure crack, jamming the front blade, on the Bay of Quinte.

Tractor trailer driver impaired, had open alcohol, OPP says
A North York trucker is facing an impaired driving charge and a ticket for allegedly having open alcohol in the cab after a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of Petawawa Tuesday morning.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP pulled over the commercial vehicle after getting a complaint about a possibly impaired driver.
“The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and open alcohol was found in the vehicle,” police alleged in a release Wednesday.

Nine DND employees involved in Westboro bus crash, military confirms
Nine Department of National Defence employees were involved in Friday’s OC Transpo bus crash at Westboro station, DND confirmed Tuesday.
Five of those individuals were civilian employees and four were members of the military, DND said in a statement from Deputy Minister Jody Thomas and Gen. Jonathan Vance, chief of the defence staff.
There was no immediate confirmation on whether those nine people were among the 23 who were injured in the crash.
