• Twelve left homeless after fire in Sandy Hill student residence

  A fire at a student residence in Sandy Hill near the University of Ottawa early Saturday has left 12 people homeless.
  Ottawa Fire Services responded to reports of smoke on the third floor of the residence on 181 Henderson Ave. shortly before 3 a.m. Firefighters found a fire on the third floor had started and spread into the floor. Twelve residents were displaced, according to a news release. A fire investigator was at the scene.

  Ottawa Police say they have located a man from Kanata who had been reported missing Saturday morning.
  Kevin Egan, 33, was found “safe and sound” Saturday afternoon, said a release from Ottawa Police Service around 4 p.m. Earlier in the day, they had appealed for the public’s help to find the man.

  Administrative support workers at Carleton University are set to strike Monday morning if last-minute negotiations fail this weekend.
  The university and the union representing 850 administrative, library and technical staff are scheduled to bargain on Sunday with the help of a mediator.

  A man was taken to hospital after being shot at a residence in Overbrook early Saturday morning.
  Police responded to a call around 2 a.m. Saturday and found the man inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He had non life-threatening injuries, according to a release from the Ottawa Police Services.
  No suspects are in custody. The police guns and gangs unit is investigating.

  Jonathan Lévesque was arrested as he arrived at work at the City of Gatineau Police Service on Friday morning.

  A Gatineau man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday after what police are calling a “targeted” home invasion.
  The injured man is in his 50s.
