  An arborist died Tuesday after being crushed by a tree at a golf course in Maple Ridge.
  Trish Knight Chernecki confirmed that WorkSafe B.C. is investigating a serious work-related incident at Maple Ridge Golf Course that occurred late Tuesday afternoon.
  Preliminary information indicates a worker was struck by a tree and succumbed to injuries, she said, in an email Wednesday.

• Salvage of grounded Haida Gwaii barge to begin as emergency command post closes

  QUEEN CHARLOTTE — Tension is easing on B.C.’s north coast as crews make progress unloading and securing a barge that ran aground in Haida Gwaii and was at risk of exploding.
  The Council of the Haida Nation says preparations are underway to close the command post, which was set up in the nearby village of Queen Charlotte shortly after the barge broke away from its moorings in high winds on Sept. 8.
  A news release from the council says work is now shifting to a salvage operation.

  RADISSON, Sask. — Police have laid a murder charge in the 2007 disappearance of a 15-year-old B.C. teenager in Saskatchewan.
  Katelyn Marie Noble who was last seen on Aug. 27, 2007, in the Radisson area, northwest of Saskatoon.
  The investigation into her death took police from B.C. to Ontario.
  A 41-year-old man who is serving time at a federal prison in B.C. on a separate matter was arrested Tuesday.

  A 46-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the 2016 death of Prince George man Patrick Mathewsie.
  Mathewsie was reported missing on July 1, 2016, three days after he was killed. His body was later found near the Highway 97 and Massey Drive off-ramp in Prince George.
