  Conservation groups have teamed up for a legal action aimed at protecting endangered southern resident killer whales.
  The groups said Wednesday that the federal government failed to recommend an emergency order to protect the whales under the Species at Risk Act. They want a Federal Court to review that decision.

  Homicide detectives have identified the woman whose body was found north of Boston Bar last month as 28-year-old Amelie Christelle Sakkalis.
  Police say Sakkalis was a Belgian tourist travelling through Canada. Her body was found Aug. 22 at around 7:25 p.m. near Highway 1.

  Victoria is asking the province for a provincewide ban on disposable plastic packaging.

  The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver says prices for detached homes, townhouses and condos have fallen for two consecutive months in Metro Vancouver.
  The board says its benchmark price for all types of properties is $1,083,400 — up 4.1 per cent compared to August 2017, but down 1.9 per cent since May 2018.
  Detached home prices fell 2.8 per cent since May to $1,561,000, which is also down 3.1 per cent compared to the previous August.

  A 43-year-old Vancouver man has died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred Aug. 27.
