    Parksville officials warn of cougar in area after livestock killed
    The City of Parksville is warning residents of recent cougar activity.
    In a news release, the city said two livestock have recently been killed in the area southeast of Shelly Road and Stanford Ave East and west of Martindale Road.
    The Conservation Officer Service is aware of the situation and working towards a solution, according to the city.
    Nearby campgrounds and golf courses have also been made aware of the recent activity.

    UPDATE 7:30 a.m.
    A semi-truck caused a stoppage on the William R. Bennett Bridge on Sunday night after it caught on fire.
    Around 7:30 p.m. on July 26, the Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) responded to a report of a transport truck on fire pulled over northbound on the West Kelowna side of the bridge.
    The first responding officer found the truck’s break system was on fire. Crews on scene extinguished the truck, cooling the brakes with a hose line.

    Nanaimo RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed a suspicious fire in Bowen Park on the morning of Sunday, July 26, to contact police.
    City of Nanaimo Fire Rescue responded to a report that two very large trees had been set on fire.
    The trees were located adjacent to the pedestrian walking path near the park entrance off Riverside Drive.
    Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading further.
