'Unspeakable arrogance' toward francophones in 2018, rights group says
Impératif français, a francophone-rights organization, says 2018 was a difficult year for francophones in several Canadian provinces, particularly in Ontario.
The president of the organization, Jean-Paul Perreault, says the past year was littered with examples of “unspeakable arrogance” toward francophones.

Only in Montreal, 2018: Mount Royal divides the city — in more ways than one
Montrealers are fiercely protective of Mount Royal, the urban oasis that, literally and metaphorically, is at the heart of our city.
It should come as no surprise then that a plan involving Mount Royal would prove to be one of the events that most polarized us in 2018.
That plan: a five-month pilot project that banned through traffic on the mountain from June 2 through Oct. 31. The Plante administration’s stated goal for the project was to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists and -

While you were sleeping: Canadiens declaw Panthers; Park-Ex stabbing
Here’s what happened while you were in your fifth turkey coma of the week:
A hot start and a strong third period led the Canadiens to a 5-3 win over the Florida Panthers Friday night. Montreal went into the game with the worst power-play record in the NHL, but Tomas Tatar scored with Montreal holding the man advantage at 8:54 of the third period to break a 2-2 deadlock. Karl Lohnes: Out with the old decor trends and in with the new
The new year is on its way and bringing many new home decor trends with it. This will mean saying goodbye to some of last year’s favourites in order to make room for new ones. Although there was a lot to like in the trends of 2018, some don’t have the staying power to hang on long-term. Many of the those that are leaving came from the handmade category, which is being refined all the time.
Here are three new trends I think will have lasting power, and three of last year’s trend -
