A Laval courtroom echoed to more than a dozen admissions of guilt on Tuesday as 13 accused who were arrested during an investigation of collusion in local municipal contracts acknowledged their wrongdoings.

Kirkland has taken a creative approach to launching its first book-sharing box.
The box, fashioned by carpenters from Kirkland’s public works department, is a miniature replica of the town’s heritage Lantier House, located at 11 Chemin Lantier. The box is installed near the house.
Lantier House was built circa 1737. It now serves as a community centre.
The concept of book-sharing has been steadily gaining in popularity. People are invited to leave a book and take a book from the box. -

Quebec breast cancer foundation plans multi-city yoga tour
The Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is calling on the province’s yogis to band together in the name of beating cancer.
On Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the organization will hold outdoor yoga classes in Montreal, Quebec, and Sherbrooke.
The registration fee is $35 per person, or $30 if you sign up with a team.
In Montreal, the event will be held in Mont-Royal Park.

Update: Gatineau police make arrest in hit and run of cyclist
A suspect was arrested by Gatineau police after a hit-and-run involving a cyclist Tuesday morning.
The victim, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries to his legs but his life is not deemed to be in danger.
The incident occurred about 2:15 a.m. on Maloney Blvd. near Main St. The cyclist was struck from the rear by a vehicle and violently thrown to the ground.
