    UPDATE: South Baptiste Lake Road Now Open
    The road crews worked hard and finished early this weekend.
    The culvert work was completed on Saturday May 11 at 7:40pm.
    South Baptiste Lake rd is now open for regular travel with no detours.
    In a message to My Bancroft Now the road department thanked the crews:  "Thank you to the Operations Department for getting the culvert replaced and the road open in time for Mother’s Day travel"

    Traffic stop leads to cocaine trafficking charges in Marmora 
    OPP say they have seized crack cocaine, cannabis, over $3,500 in cash and multiple cell phones after conducting a traffic stop on Highway 7 on Wednesday at around 6:30 p.m.
    Officers noticed cannabis near the driver of the rental car and as a result the car was searched.
    Two people have been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

    Three days of festivities are coming up at Bancroft art collective A Place For The Arts (APFTA) this weekend.
    The organization has celebrated local artists and creative projects for ten years.

    OPP looking for Honda Civic stolen in Beachburg 
    The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is currently looking into the theft of a Honda Civic from Robertson Drive in  Beachburg.  
    They say the stolen car is a red four-door 2022 Honda Civic.
    The car was stolen sometime in the afternoon of June 2 and features tinted windows and black rims.

    Hospice North Hastings has been awarded $5,800 raised at the May 100+ Women Who Care event.

    Bancroft OPP on Hastings Heritage trail during ATV Safety awareness week 
    ATV Safety Awareness Week is underway.
    Bancroft OPP say they were out on Saturday near the Hastings Heritage Trail meeting operators of ATVs and side by sides. 
    OPP across the region say they will be out on the trails performing checks through next weekend.
    They remind everyone they must wear a helmet and have proper documentation with them.

    According to Hastings Highlands, the closure will occur just after 8 a.m. (after buses) and the municipality will advise when the road reopens to traffic.  
    The closure/culvert replacement is near civic address 1452 South Baptiste Lake Road.

    Combermere’s Tyler Seto takes home 3 Silver at Special Olympics 
    Combermere’s Tyler Seto won three silver medals at the Ontario Special Olympic Spring Games in Waterloo.  Tyler represented Eastern Ontario along with several other athletes from the region. His dad Kim Seto, says that individuals in the Special Olympics each compete in four events.
