B.C. Highway Patrol says a Squamish driver is facing a $368 fine after being caught allegedly excessively speeding on a highway.
An officer was on Highway 99, also known as the Sea to Sky Highway, near Porteau Cove on Monday (Sept. 7) when they clocked a white Toyota Corolla allegedly doing 133 km/h in an 80 zone, a news release from B.C. Highway Patrol Wednesday (Sept. 9) said.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a house fire in the BX Monday.
Firefighters and RCMP were called to the structure fire off Goose Lake Road, on Raven Road, around noon Sept. 7.
Although there was significant damage to the home, no injuries were reported.
But one person was arrested at the scene in connection with the fire.
The Vernon man appeared in court and has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.

The Abbotsford community is lending a big helping hand to Egyptian students and families after raising thousands of dollars at a recent marketplace fundraiser.
Salsabeel Charity hosted the Aug. 29 event at OPEX Abbotsford, with many people turning up to support the group’s efforts, said the charity co-founder, Eiad El Fateh.

Homicide police say they’ve identified a group of youth believed to either be involved or have knowledge of a shooting that led to the death of an 85-year-old man.

Thousands of people gathered in Abbotsford on Sunday (Sept. 6) for the annual Sikh parade, known as the Nagar Kirtan Procession.
