UPDATE: The RCMP E Division Underwater Recovery Team has joined the ongoing search for the missing 13-year-old girl at Cultus Lake.
While authorities search for the teen, Entrance Bay remains closed, with the public asked to avoid the area.
Upper Fraser Valley RCMP reported that the volume of silt on the lake floor makes it easy for any disturbance in the water to drastically reduce the visibility for the search team.

Firefighters are working to extinguish a fire at a rubber plant near Highway 11 in Abbotsford on Monday (Aug. 10).
According to an air quality alert on social media from the City of Abbotsford, the fire occurred early Monday morning on Industrial Way. Crews continue to work to put out the fire.

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) are continuing to see elevated fire activity related to the Bald Range blaze.
In an update from the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS), BCWS’ Erin Catherall, a fire information officer, gave an update on current conditions.
“Right now we are seeing elevated fire activity. Things are hot and dry and we do not expect a change in the current situation,” Catherall said.

A three-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital after she was mauled by a bear in Maple Ridge.
The incident happened on a residential property at 11:30 a.m. in the 12300 block of 240 Street on Sunday morning, Aug. 9.The victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
Multiple conversation officers responded to the area with RCMP officers to search for the bear that fled into a greenbelt.

Search continues for missing girl in Cultus Lake

The search is continuing for a girl who has been reported as missing and is presumed to have drowned in Cultus Lake.
At around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, Chilliwack RCMP received a report that a 13-year-old girl who was floating on a paddleboard in Cultus Lake was believed to have suffered a medical emergency.
