Vancouver Police Department Sgt. Adam Donaldson said there were no major incidents on Saturday when Vancouver hosted its first FIFA World Cup match.

Going into Sunday’s game against Pacific FC, Vancouver FC head coach Martin Nash said it would be “nice” to get a victory before the team took a World Cup break.

Entire city block evacuated after gas leak reported in downtown Chilliwack

The entire block of downtown Chilliwack was being evacuated at 9 a.m. Monday (June 15) after a gas leak was reported at a Wellington Avenue address.
Emergency responders were called to the alley at the rear of Wellington Avenue where someone had called in the smell of gas.
Investigating fire officials determined the entire commerical/residential block had to be evacuated from Young Road to Wellington Avenue to Mill Street, to Victoria Avenue.

The Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt is closed northbound on Monday morning due to a vehicle incident.
The incident happened northbound on the highway close to Comstock Road just after 8 a.m. on June 15.
According to DriveBC, travellers should expect the road to be closed for several hours. There is no estimated time of re-opening.

Motorcycle rider airlifted to hospital after Abbotsford crash

A motorcycle rider was airlifted to hospital on Saturday (June 13) after a serious collision on Whatcom Road in Abbotsford.
According to social media posts from the Abbotsford Police Department, an officer was also injured while managing the scene when a vehicle failed to stop at the road closure and drove through the collision area.

Maple Ridge RCMP are investigating what they described as a fatal motor vehicle incident Saturday night at Lougheed Hwy and 287 St.
Staff Sgt. Marcel Pinto said it happened around 8:45 p.m. between 287 St. and Hayward St. in Mission.

A 48-year-old driver in Abbotsford was pulled over after they were clocked going more than twice the speed limit in a school zone.
Abbotsford Police Department were outside Godson Elementary School on Bevan Avenue conducting speed enforcement when the driver sped through the area on Friday, June 12.
