At least two homes and two outbuildings have been lost in Spallumcheen due to the Bradley Creek wildfire.
Despite the losses, wildfire crews’ strong efforts over the weekend have allowed the Township to shrink the Evacuation Order area and amend the alert areas.

A mushroom farm in the Garnet Valley area of Summerland has been destroyed in the Bald Range wildfire.
Brian Callow, co-owner of What The Fungus, said the entire farm was destroyed in the massive wildfire that has ravaged Summerland.

A culprit has finally been determined months after a fiery explosion destroyed the home of Abbotsford’s Sylvia Gillis.

The body of a 13-year-old girl who fell off a paddleboard and into Cultus Lake has been found, RCMP have confirmed.
The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team pulled her body from the water shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 10), media relations officer Cpl. Carmen Kiener stated in a press release Tuesday morning (Aug. 10).

More than $15,000 in fines have been handed out to people who have entered the Village of Clinton without authorization while the community is under evacuation order, with more fines expected.

On Monday, Aug. 10, the fire continued to display Rank 1 and 2 fire behaviour despite ‘unsettled’ weather conditions in the area.

Overnight weather conditions were set to pose a challenge for wildfire crews at the Bald Range blaze in Summerland on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, Aug. 10 and 11.
The overnight shift saw a total of 63 personnel of firefighters, structural protection crews and apparatus on scene battling the blaze as westerly downslope winds of up to 25 km/h were expected to make the fire’s behaviour more challenging.

A new evacuation alert has been issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) due to the Ainslie Creek wildfire.
The 54,131.78 hectares blaze remains out of control and is anticipated to spread beyond its current perimeter.

Some small businesses have been greatly affected by the Bald Range wildfire, in and around the area, especially Summerland.
While the Regional District of the Okanagan Similkameen has not had access to re-enter the area affected by the blaze as it remains a live wildfire, plans for a rapid damage assessment are underway.

A Maple Ridge man has been charged following a sexual assault on July 30 in North Bay, Ontario.
Nazif Kamenjas, 58, is accused of restraining and sexually assaulting a woman after encouraging her to consume an alcoholic beverage during a brief encounter on the street and following her home.
