In the fourth and final game of Wednesday’s schedule, the Brewers were trying to catch up to the Dodgers in the division series.
The Padres, meanwhile, were looking to force a decisive game.
The Brewers struck first. In the third inning, Garrett Mitchell hit a single to make it 1-0.
But Fernando Tatis Jr. wasn't about to let that happen on his home turf: he tied the game at 1-1 with a home run.FERNANDO TATIS JR. DEAD CENTER pic.twitter.com/9rTzP5ndnT

Aaron Sorkin’s insufferable attitude in The Social Reckoning
via laineygossip.com
Aaron Sorkin won an Oscar for The Social Network, a film about Facebook’s and Mark Zuckerberg’s rise to power that has aged incredibly well, as it is more scathing and prescient now than it was in 2010. Now, Sorkin is back with a sequel-ish film, The Social Reckoning, and this time there is no David Fincher to rein him in. No, Sorkin acts as his own director, to the detriment of everyone involved. Much like Facebook itself, The Social Reckoning is full of nonsense.Because Sorkin can& -
The worst start to a season in the Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton era
via dose.ca
The Canadiens started their season with a win they didn't really deserve—thanks, Jakub—in Toronto. Since then, they've suffered three straight losses. Three losses in which they gave up no fewer than 17 goals. You can't give up five or six goals per game and expect to succeed in this league.
Yesterday, it's true, the Habs deserved a better outcome. Martin St-Louis was right after the game. However, considering all the games the Habs have managed to pull off despite being the worse of -
The Blue Jays need to make Randy Arozarena a priority this winter
via dose.ca
Last winter, the Toronto Blue Jays made significant improvements on the mound, including the acquisitions of Dylan Cease, Tyler Rogers, and Spencer Miles.
On the offensive side of the ball, however, Kazuma Okamoto was the only major addition—despite the loss of Bo Bichette. And to put it mildly, the team paid the price, as Toronto's offense was anemic in 2026, starting with the face of the franchise, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
This means that General Manager Ross Atkins will need to prioritize -
Zendaya and her pixie in Paris
via laineygossip.com
Paris Fashion Week is over, but Zendaya is still in town and still serving face with that pixie cut that is making everyone long for short hair, like Halle Berry before her. She was seen shopping at Prada, which could be just another Thursday, or it could maybe be looking for Dune looks? The Dune: Part Three press tour is creeping ever closer.A couple days ago, Lainey was wondering about Dunesday, December 18, the day both Dune and Avengers: Doomsday hit theaters. To date, I have been skeptical -
Dylan Larkin in Montreal: There’s a Real Chance He’ll Change His Mind
via dose.ca
The Canadiens are looking to bolster their offense with a second-line center. Dylan Larkin is a candidate.
As my colleague Maxime Truman noted in a recent article, the Canadiens had reached an agreement with the Red Wings to acquire the center in recent months.
But the American turned them down.
The more time passes, the more we wonder what will happen with him. Will one of his preferred teams manage to secure his services? Who knows.
But what will happen if the season progresses and he isn't tr -
Intro for October 9, 2026
via laineygossip.com
Dear Gossips,Glen Powell is on the cover of Esquire’s October issue, because JJ Abram’s The Great Beyond, in which he stars, was supposed to hit theaters in November, only it got moved to October 2027, taking over The Batman Part II’s original(ish) release date (that movie might legit be cursed).
So, Esquire’s profile, written by the extravagantly named Madison Vain, is something of a boondoggle, a remnant of a schedule f-cked by the Paramount/Warner Bros. Discovery merge -
17 goals allowed in three games: no team has done worse than the Canadiens

The Canadiens deserved better.
That's what Martin St-Louis told reporters who were there to get his postgame comments following the 5-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Alex Cora with the Yankees: Crazy Enough to Be True?
via dose.ca
Will Aaron Boone keep his job?
Despite another Yankees elimination—which makes the team's current streak without a World Series title the longest in franchise history—the question remains.
But… everyone is asking it even though they know the answer. Brian Cashman will likely get a contract extension, and he'll probably stick with his manager.
We talked about it last night on the Passion MLB podcast: it's the most likely scenario, even if a change would be good.

But there were also nine other games played across the NHL.
Let's take a look at the latest news together to see what caught everyone's attention.Eleven players have now recorded four-point games in the 2026-27 season. Nothing is going right for the Cowboys
via dose.ca
The Dallas Cowboys missed a key opportunity to regain confidence on defense.Defeated 24–16 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Texas team had a disastrous third quarter and saw its star player, CeeDee Lamb, hampered by a quadriceps injury.
Despite a promising start, Dallas was unable to hold onto its lead. The offense opened the game with a 70-yard drive in nine plays, capped by a 1-yard run by Javonte Williams into the end zone.

The Guardians Force a Deciding Game
via dose.ca
Tonight, the Chicago White Sox were trying to eliminate the Cleveland Guardians and join the Rays, Dodgers, and Brewers in the Wild Card round.
They were also trying to do so without having to play a decisive game, so they could rest their pitchers before Monday's game.
The Guardians, for their part, just wanted to stay alive.
Things didn't start off great for Chicago, which saw its opponent load the bases in the first inning. There was even a pitching change.
But Cleveland (which, incidentally, -

Dylan Larkin is reportedly on the Flyers’ radar
via dose.ca
Daniel Brière isn’t giving up.
The Philadelphia Flyers don't seem to have given up on their quest for a true No. 1 center.
We saw it this summer with Leo Carlsson, and now it appears Dylan Larkin is on their radar.
According to David Pagnotta, who discussed this on the DFO Insider podcast, the Flyers have reportedly expressed interest in the former Detroit Red Wings captain. Dylan Larkin's future in DetroitJeff Marek & David Pagnotta are back for ep. 2 of DFO Insider. Dysfunctio -
NHL Expansion: Some Owners Oppose It
via dose.ca
Since this summer, NHL expansion has been the talk of the town.
Houston and Austin are at the center of the discussions, as the league is seriously considering the possibility of adding a 33rd team in Texas.
At one point, it even seemed like it was only a matter of time before an announcement was made.
But now, some owners could throw a wrench into Gary Bettman's plans.
On TSN's “Insider Trading” segment, Darren Dreger revealed that some NHL owners are simply not in favor of a new ex -

The Canadiens are giving up way too many goals from the slot
via dose.ca
The Canadiens have allowed 14 goals (in three games) since the start of the season.
We can all agree that… that's too many.
In the long run, this approach won't work. And it's no coincidence that the Montreal team has a 1-1-1 record after three games this season.
There's a major problem, in fact: the Habs are giving up way too many goals from the slot.
Jakub Dobes is one of seven NHL goaltenders who have played more than one game and haven't allowed a single goal outside the slot. That sa -

In the Supreme Court, the NFL Takes on Prediction Markets
via dose.ca
The NFL is stepping up its efforts against certain sports-related prediction market platforms.
On October 8, 2026, the league asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in a legal dispute that could determine whether these platforms should be regulated as sports betting activities by individual U.S. states.

The time Jacob Fowler was hit by a car in Belleville
via dose.ca
I wouldn’t like that—getting hit by a car while I’m just a pedestrian.
Makes sense, right?
Except that things like that do happen once in a while. Just ask Emil Heineman… who experienced something like that while playing for the Canadiens, when he was hit by a car in Salt Lake City.
Jacob Fowler is also (unfortunately) among the group of people who've been hit by a car.

Interesting timing – Michael Douglas has been promoting his memoir, One Helluva Ride. Every couple of days or so there’s a new revelation, most of it has to do with his sex life. MLB is proposing a 154-game season
via dose.ca
When I say I don't expect to see a 162-game season in 2027, I mean that the potential labor stoppage on the horizon could drag on.
But now Major League Baseball has taken this to a whole new level.
Basically, Rob Manfred and the owners of the 30 teams have decided to propose a change to the number of games to the players as part of union negotiations.

The CH’s team play is too focused on having fun, says José Théodore
via dose.ca
The Canadiens are a fun team to watch.
The young players are good, and the team is entertaining because there's talent on the roster…
But in José Théodore's view, the Habs' team play may be too focused on having fun. That's what he said last night on 98.5 FM.

Rare Beauty and BÉIS have collaborated on a luggage set and limited-edition beauty kit – all of it is hot pink. Rare Beauty is doing extremely well and over the summer, Samsonite acquired a majority ownership of BÉIS, with Shay Mitchell staying on as chief brand officer. Going into luggage while most other celebrities focus on fashion and beauty was a very smart pivot for Mitchell.
