This morning, the Canadiens were back at practice in Brossard.
Believe it or not, between the game in Toronto, the closed-door training camp in the U.S., and yesterday's day off, the Habs hadn't had a chance to skate in Brossard since last Monday.
But this morning, everything changed. What stood out from practice?
1. Before practice, we were keeping an eye on who would be there. Lane Hutson (of course) was with Florian Xhekaj and Adam Engstrom—the bench players from the first two games&mda

All of Jessica Chastain’s Horrors
via laineygossip.com
Jessica Chastain was at Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to promote her movie Other Mommy, opening this weekend, and I will not be seeing it because I am not built for that kind of fright – but I do LOVE that she’s a scream queen, a proud scream queen, a scream queen before her Oscar and a scream queen who doubles down on scream queening after Oscar. Jessica Chastain is giving the horror genre her full respect. When the Other Mommy trailer was first shared back in July, Jessica went vira -
Jonathan Drouin is still looking for a contract
via dose.ca
Patrik Laine, David Perron, James Van Riemsdyk, Vladimir Tarasenko…
All these guys have one thing in common: they're still unsigned as of this writing. They didn't find a team this summer on the free-agent market and are still waiting to see what the future holds for them.
But…
But we can also add another name to that list—one that's well known in Montreal: Jonathan Drouin.
The Blues acquired him last March… and decided to buy out the final year of his contract this su -
Dodgers vs. Brewers: Setting the Stage for the Series
via dose.ca
On Wednesday night, the Padres and the Braves lost to the Brewers and the Dodgers, respectively, in the fourth game of their respective series.
The result? On Sunday, the top two teams in the National League during the regular season will face off in the National League Championship Series.
In 2025, the two teams faced off, and the Brewers didn't look good. That paved the way for another Dodgers appearance in the World Series.
Will history repeat itself? Will David be able to defeat Goliath?

Rare Beauty and BÉIS have collaborated on a luggage set and limited-edition beauty kit – all of it is hot pink. Rare Beauty is doing extremely well and over the summer, Samsonite acquired a majority ownership of BÉIS, with Shay Mitchell staying on as chief brand officer. Going into luggage while most other celebrities focus on fashion and beauty was a very smart pivot for Mitchell.
In 2025, she also launched a Korean skincare line targeted to kids. The launch wasn’t smo -

Brendan Gallagher, benched tonight (even though he’s healthy)
via dose.ca
Brendan Gallagher has played four games for the Canucks since the start of the season.
And… things haven't been going too well for him so far.
He's having a rough start with his new team and has (already) been criticized for his performance in Vancouver. That's (surely) not what he would have hoped for.
Gally is struggling to keep up, and as a result, he'll be left out of the lineup tonight even though he's healthy.
He was among the extras on the ice this morning with the Canucks, which s -

Def Leppard Tour in Vancouver: What to know about the concert
via vancouversun.com
Def Leppard came roaring out of England’s Sheffield in 1976.Formed at exactly the same time that punk rock was changing the face of popular music, the quintet fronted by lead singer Joe Elliott quickly established itself as one of the leaders in the new wave of British Heavy Metal movement of the early 1980s. Alongside Iron Maiden, Def Leppard would go on to become superstars of the genre breaking big globally with 1982s Pyromania. That album produced the single Photograph, which made the -
Cole Caufield confirms it: one day, he’ll be asking for a lot more money
via dose.ca
There's a great article on The Athletic (via reporter Mark Lazerus) this morning.
What's it about? It's related to the fact that salaries have risen in the NHL and that young players are making significantly more money than players who've been established in the league for years.
It's a topic that's generating a lot of buzz.
In the article from The Athletic, several players who fall into the category of those earning less than they could have were asked about the issue.
For most players, the sta -
The Debut in theatre kid central
via laineygossip.com
As I’ve already mentioned a number of times, The Debut was my favourite film of TIFF 2026. I LOVE this movie SO MUCH, to the point where it became my festival personality – all I wanted to do was talk to people about The Debut, perhaps to verify that the thrill I experienced while watching it was legit, that I wasn’t alone… even though I knew I wasn’t alone because I could feel in the theatre that everyone else was just as delighted as I was, bursting into applause -
Ronald Acuña Jr. removes his Braves photos from Instagram
via dose.ca
Things aren’t going well for Ronald Acuña Jr.
For one of the first times in his Major League career, the Atlanta Braves star faced the wrath of Braves fans, who booed him at home.
Why? Because his performance in the playoffs has been terrible—especially against Los Angeles, which eliminated Atlanta last night.
He told the media that he understood where the criticism was coming from and that his performances hadn't been good. But he seemed emotional, appearing on the verge of t -
Medical Updates on Samuel Montembeault and Oliver Kapanen
via dose.ca
Currently, the Canadiens have four regulars on the injured list.
Ivan Demidov, as you know, didn't play in yesterday's game, and the Habs have announced he'll be out for two to four weeks. Kaiden Guhle, meanwhile, is nearing a return and has been skating with the rest of the team for the past few days. He still needs some time.
But what about the other two?
Samuel Montembeault underwent tests yesterday and will meet with the doctors tonight. So we don't expect the Habs to make any announcements -
Marcus Davenport unexpectedly leaves the NFL after just one game in Chicago
via dose.ca
Marcus Davenport is ending his NFL career after a very brief stint with the Chicago Bears. The 30-year-old veteran played in only one game for the franchise before requesting to be released, according to a report Tuesday by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Having arrived in Chicago with the goal of reviving his career, Davenport played in Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Used for only 12 snaps, the defensive end recorded one tackle. Shortly after the game, he asked the Bears to release hi -
Zoe Kazan’s East of Eden stands on its own
via laineygossip.com
East of Eden is one of John Steinbeck’s seminal American classics; a biblical allegory dressed up in family feathers; a love letter to California’s Salinas Valley; and a warning to America to choose its destiny a little bit better (no one listened, lol). In 1955, Elia Kazan directed a film adaptation that, notably, served as James Dean’s debut role as a leading man. Before that, in 1952, Kazan testified at the height of McCarthyism to the House Un-American Activities Committee, -
Adam Engstrom will play his first game of the season tonight
via dose.ca
This morning’s practice was optional, but it gave us some answers.
On offense, we didn't need any answers. Everyone would have been surprised to learn that Oliver Kapanen was actually an option for tonight's game.
The Habs have just 12 healthy forwards with Kapanen on the sidelines.
In goal, Jacob Fowler will start by default. Again, this isn't a huge surprise, considering we didn't expect Jakub Dobes to get the start.
If Samuel Montembeault hadn't been injured, he would surely have been t -
Sebastian Maniscalco and the Sirius comedy mess
via laineygossip.com
Sebastian Maniscalco is setting the record straight after fellow comedians caused an uproar following his takeover of SiriusXM’s Raw Comedy channel, formerly known as channel 99. When dozens of comedians found themselves axed from the station’s rotation of bits, from which they earned royalties, many of them took to social media to implore him to reinstate themselves and other up-and-coming comedians back into the rotation.Earlier this week, Josh Johnson, Patton Oswalt, Margaret Cho, -
Jacob Fowler is going to play tonight
via dose.ca
This morning, the Canadiens held an optional practice.
Rumor has it that Gavin McKenna asked not to attend, even though it wasn't his team's practice. But that obviously needs to be verified…
Who was there? Eight players.A VERY optional practice this morning, with only six players on the ice.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. wants to return to the Yankees
via dose.ca
The New York Yankees were swept in just three games by the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series. That means we've likely just witnessed Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s final game in a Yankees uniform.
And as might be expected, his potentially final postgame interview as a member of the Yankees was chaotic.
In fact, when a reporter asked Chisholm Jr. why the Yankees hadn't managed to beat the Rays, his response consisted of just three words. No comment. Then, when the next question came— -
Lane Hutson plays too much (and that’s a problem)
via dose.ca
On a team, some players play a more influential role than others.
Coaches often say that every player is important, but what they don't say is that some are more important than others.
With the Canadiens, in particular, it's easy to conclude that Nick Suzuki's role is more significant than Jake Evans's, even though the latter still plays a role of some importance.
In the same vein, Lane Hutson is obviously a more important defenseman than Jayden Struble. That goes without saying.
So it's no surp -
NFL: Jim Harbaugh Is on the Hot Seat, but Matt LaFleur Is Still Safe
via dose.ca
After just four weeks of competition, the 2026 NFL regular season is already beginning to reveal some early trends. With about a quarter of the schedule now played, some teams have found their rhythm, while others are off to a particularly worrisome start. Five teams remain winless, a situation that could quickly have consequences in the front offices.
In a league where patience seems to be a rare commodity, head coaches are often the first to pay the price for poor results. A disastrous start to -

Dear Gossips,My favourite annual fashion event is Toronto is the Cashmere Collection show. For 23 years, established and emerging designers from across Canada are invited to design one-of-a-kind pieces made out of a bathroom tissue in support of the breast cancer cause.
Cancer, unfortunately, has affected all of our communities, no matter where we’re from and what we do. My mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor. My ma has been treated for multiple myeloma twice. That’s my persona -
Hot Topic: Kent Hughes Weighs In on His Defense
via dose.ca
Right now, the talk in Montreal is all about the team's defense.
Everyone knows the Canadiens are never out of it and have the offensive firepower to come back in games. That happened quite often last season.
It happened again on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
But if the team falls behind, it's largely because its defense isn't up to par. There are areas that need to be addressed if the team is going to take it to the next level.
And everyone knows that. Even the GM. In an interview with Mario Langlois -
From Backrooms to Remnant, Vancouver horror is having a moment
via vancouversun.com
With low-budget films like Backrooms and Obsession commanding the attention of audiences and Hollywood, it’s a good time to be a horror movie fan.
