According to journalist Aaron Portzline, nothing has changed regarding Kirill Marchenko on the trade market.
But according to several other people who have weighed in on the matter since yesterday, we should still keep an eye on what's happening with the Blue Jackets' Russian player.
So, will he be traded soon? Who knows.
What likely won't change (barring a sudden turn of events) is that the Blue Jackets aren't under any pressure to trade the star forward. He won't become a free agent until 2028

Shea Langeliers Suffers a Serious Knee Injury
His season is likely over. He is therefore unlikely to be traded.
New on ESPN: All-Star catcher Shea Langeliers has a torn meniscus in his knee and could miss the rest of the year, taking him off the trade market and dealing another blow to an A's season that has gone awry. Read the full story on ESPN: https://t.co/P4v850R5CR

Deadpool crashes Avengers: Doomsday panel at Comic-Con
via vancouversun.com
Ryan Reynolds donned a Canadian tuxedo-style Deadpool outfit and popped up at Comic-Con in San Diego. The Vancouver actor appeared in Hall H on July 25, during Marvel’s presentation for Avengers: Doomsday, which will feature X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the first time.Reynolds interrupted the event which included plenty of Doomsday stars, including Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie and Pedro Pascal.“This seems like an awfully expensive way to -
“It would make sense for Marchenko to want to play for the CH”
via dose.ca
The big news this weekend is Kirill Marchenko. The Russian has been linked to the Montreal Canadiens in the past, but yesterday it was reported that the Habs are at the top of the list to acquire him.
Now, none of this necessarily means that Marchenko will be a member of the Habs next season, but the rumors are certainly heating up.
Many are wondering what a return might look like for Marchenko, who doesn't seem to want to stay with the Blue Jackets long-term. My colleague Charles-Alexis Brisebo -
Trading Connelly Early: A Panic Move
via dose.ca
Am I the only one who was shocked to see that the Red Sox decided to trade Connely Early for Curtis Mead?
There are two ways to look at this. And I'll tell you right off the bat: the truth probably lies somewhere in between.
First, you could argue that the Red Sox addressed a pressing need (a right-handed hitter) by bringing in a player with some power who'll thrive at Fenway Park.
With Jake Bennett rising through the ranks in the Red Sox organization, Early was becoming a bit more tradable.

Another goal for Michigan by Matvei Michkov
via dose.ca
Matvei Michkov has plenty of talent.
It's never been his talent that's been the problem—rather, it's several other factors that make him less appealing to a coach and an organization.
He's scored a few “Michigan-style” goals in his career, and it's always a spectacle when he pulls one off.
Last summer, Michkov said he didn't want to do any more “Michigan” goals, and two days later, he scored one at an event organized by Alex Ovechkin in Russia.
Ovechkin was once aga -

Jose Caballero needs to stop his antics at the plate
via dose.ca
In May 2023, Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado confronted Jose Caballero over his manipulation of the scoreboard, which led to a bench-clearing brawl.
A month later, Caballero brought his little antics to Yankee Stadium, which irritated Gerrit Cole so much that he fired a 97 MPH fastball over Caballero's head. After striking him out, Cole exchanged gestures and words with the Seattle Mariners' dugout.
This incident is one of the reasons why New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone admitted thi -

Surprise: Nothing’s happening with Kirill Marchenko, according to Aaron Portzline
via dose.ca
The hot topic in the NHL right now is Kirill Marchenko and a potential trade.
Why? Because, according to an interview from Russia, it's a race between two teams—and the Canadiens are clearly one of them. Because David Ettedgui said the Canadiens were at the top of the list and that the Habs' front office was in full control of the situation.
And that's not to mention the fact that his agent has been fanning the flames on X on several occasions.Breaking: replying to fans is still allowed un -
The Red Sox acquire Curtis Mead in exchange for Connelly Early
via dose.ca
The coming week is sure to be full of twists and turns, with just eight days left until the MLB trade deadline. In fact, the action has already begun, as the Boston Red Sox have let the baseball world know that they'll be looking to add pieces to the puzzle in the coming days.
In fact, just late last night (Saturday), the Red Sox completed their first major trade aimed at improving their roster. Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that they had traded young left-handed pitcher Connelly Early to the Was -
Kirill Marchenko: The best (realistic) option for providing better support to Ivan Demidov
via dose.ca
Why is Kirill Marchenko an intriguing player for the Montreal Canadiens?
Because he has all the tools in his arsenal to provide immediate help to the Habs.
The Russian has great hands, a solid shot, spectacular speed… and at 26, he'd fit right in with the current Habs roster.
But where things could REALLY get interesting for the Habs is when you consider the impact Marchenko could have on a player like Ivan Demidov.
We keep saying that the young player needs to be surrounded by the right -
Hockey Operations: Still Many Issues to Resolve at the CH
via dose.ca
The Canadiens didn’t make the acquisition everyone was expecting this summer.
But in the eyes of many, they've still improved their coaching staff with the hiring of Derek Lalonde.
The Habs have landed a quality coach with experience who can help Martin St-Louis make well-considered decisions. In that regard, things could get interesting for the Habs.
That said, there are still many issues to be resolved for the Canadiens in the area of hockey operations.

Second-Best: The Cardinals Are Still in the Running
via dose.ca
After defeating the Cincinnati Reds 7-0 yesterday, the surprising St. Louis Cardinals find themselves this morning one and a half games out of a playoff spot.
Even though Oliver Marmol's squad slowed down a bit just before the All-Star break, the fact remains that the Cards are still in the mix when it comes to the real season. One of the pleasant surprises since the start of the 2026 season, the Missouri-based team could have fallen off the map and found itself in a less enviable position in the -
Kirill Marchenko: “The ball is now in HuGo’s court”
via dose.ca
The last few days have been pretty quiet in the NHL.
It is this time of year, after all: most GMs are on vacation, which means there isn't much activity across the Bettman-led league.
But since yesterday, the Kirill Marchenko situation has regained momentum. The Habs are reportedly among the teams still in the running to sign the forward… and there are rumors that a trade may be imminent.
David Ettedgui mentioned in a tweet that the Canadiens and the Mammoth are clearly at the top of the -
Rumors in Montreal: Kirill Marchenko’s agent comments on the situation
via dose.ca
The big news of the day is definitely the story about Kirill Marchenko.
He hasn't been traded yet, but it's coming. The Habs are actually in the lead, according to David Ettedgui.
All the sports media outlets have covered the story. Even his agent, Dan Milstein, has weighed in. Earlier today, on X, he responded to a user on the platform. Can't confirm or deny, but last I checked there were some pretty steep tariffs on exporting elite talent to or from Canada right now… #WeAreGoldStar https -

Dylan Cease: A shutout with 12 strikeouts
via dose.ca
A few weeks ago, Dylan Cease came close to pitching a no-hitter. Against San Francisco, he pitched eight innings before giving up a hit.
Recently, he had a quality start against the Rays… but this afternoon in Boston, he chose to return to the form he showed in San Francisco.
The result? This afternoon, he pitched a 120-pitch shutout (a career high), allowing just one single hit along the way.
He also struck out 12 batters, including three in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

Kirill Marchenko: The CH Is in the Lead, According to David Ettedgui
via dose.ca
A few hours ago, we learned that the Kirill Marchenko case was gaining momentum. The CH is clearly involved, but to what extent?
David Ettedgui has just given us more details.
According to him, Montreal is in the lead. Utah is also reportedly very interested.Marchenko situation: The latest info I have is that three teams are currently in the running, but Montreal and Utah are clearly at the top of the list. A story to follow closely! pic.twitter.com/uITcGOmbZb

“Gleb Pugachyov is a one-of-a-kind player”
via dose.ca
Ever since he was selected 26th overall by the Canadiens, Gleb Pugachyov has been the talk of the town among both fans and journalists.
The young Russian has promising offensive potential, but it's mainly his toughness and physical play that are drawing attention.
Described as a “unicorn” by some, Pugachyov could become a forward in the mold of Tom Wilson—a player the prospect would love to face in a fight, even going so far as to say he would destroy the Capitals forward.

Kirill Marchenko: The CH is reportedly still interested
via dose.ca
It's no secret: the Canadiens need reinforcements in their top 6 heading into next season.
And even though Kent Hughes hasn't yet managed to find that rare gem, he still has plenty of time to complete a trade to improve his roster.
Among the players who could come to the Habs' aid is Kirill Marchenko.
According to Daria Tuboltseva, who discussed the Russian player's situation on RG, a source close to the player claims that a trade is imminent, with two teams among the finalists to strike a deal -
Shohei Ohtani: Don’t Expect an Imminent Return to the Mound

Shohei Ohtani isn’t at 100% right now. The Japanese player is experiencing inflammation and irritation in his left knee, which means he is no longer pitching for the time being.
That doesn't stop him from continuing to serve as the designated hitter, but the team is taking a cautious approach with its star player. They've decided not to use him as a pitcher for the time being, until he's feeling better.
But above all, the Dodgers can count themselves lucky that Ohtani avoided the worst ear -
Nick Suzuki Left Off Team Canada’s Roster for the All-Star Game
via dose.ca
After a two-year hiatus, the All-Star Game will return to the NHL in 2026–27. Keep in mind that this year's format will be different: the competition will feature the best players from each country.
Canada, the United States, Sweden, Finland, and the “Rest of the World” will face off in a 3-on-3 tournament.
For the event, each team will consist of nine skaters and two goalies. So it's interesting to wonder who will take part in the event.
And in a projection exercise conducted -
Brady Tkachuk: There have been signs “for over a year” that he wanted to leave Ottawa
via dose.ca
It's been a little over a month since Brady Tkachuk was traded to the Panthers. The power forward, who had been with Ottawa since the start of his career, left the Senators after years of speculation about his future.
For a long time, it had seemed that Tkachuk didn't want to stay in Ottawa for the long term. And in the end, that was indeed the case.
On that note, it's interesting to note that Senators GM Steve Staios was a guest on the Sens Central podcast… and he took the opportunity to -
“The Phillies would love to bring Jeff Hoffman back”
via dose.ca
The Philadelphia Phillies are seeing their window to the World Series close due to the age of their star players.
Note: I'm not saying it's closed. I'm saying it's clear that it won't necessarily last forever with the current roster.
Since Dave Dombrowski is a general manager who likes to make moves, we clearly expect the Phillies to be active in the market to bring in reinforcements.
That's to be expected.
If there's one area of the team that needs improvement, it's the bullpen. That's even mor -
A 100-point season for Lane Hutson: “It’s not out of the question”
via dose.ca
Over the past two years, Lane Hutson has established himself as one of the NHL's top defensemen. The 22-year-old, who hasn't missed a single game since the start of his career, recorded 66 and 78 points in his first two seasons in the league.
For a defenseman, that's a pretty phenomenal tally.
Of course, the question is where his ceiling lies. And the fact that he's consistently on the ice and constantly striving to improve are two good reasons to believe he still has (at least) one more level t -
The Nationals Want to Win Over Canadians (with the Expos)
via dose.ca
Have the Washington Nationals hired a political expert to improve U.S.-Canadian relations? At least, that's the impression one gets when seeing that the professional baseball team based in the U.S. capital is organizing a Canadian appreciation night as part of the Toronto Blue Jays' visit on July 28.
As we all know, relations between the two countries are not at their best, mainly due to certain decisions by the U.S. president that are heavily impacting the Canadian economy. The tariffs improvis -
Combine: The difference in presence between Juraj Slafkovský and Shane Wright was striking
via dose.ca
Leading up to the 2022 draft, Shane Wright was seen as the clear favorite to be selected with the first overall pick. Many people viewed him as the top prospect… but as the draft drew nearer, it seemed that Juraj Slafkovský was gaining ground.
The Slovakian's profile, after all, might have been riskier… but it was certainly intriguing.
And in the end, as we know today, the Habs opted for Slaf. They selected him with the first overall pick… and so far, history has prov
