J.J. Adams: Whitecaps’ optimism, offence fade as winless squad squashed by Galaxy
via theprovince.comThe Vancouver Whitecaps’ offence is rounding into shape.
Well, except for that “scoring goals” part of the equation. Oh, and wins, too.
The opening 45 minutes against the Los Angeles Galaxy Friday night saw a confident, aggressive, pass-happy team, the kind of play that Vancouver coach Marc Dos Santos had preached he wanted his Major League Soccer team to play. It was a marvel to watch.

Makeover: Expectant mother gets an updated hair cut
Neha Mahla is a 31-year-old dental assistant who is expecting her first baby and was looking for an updated hair cut.

Float home living in the Lower Mainland
Here in Metro Vancouver, our land has natural and planned boundaries where homes can’t be built, such as parks and the agricultural land reserve. We’re also hemmed in by mountains, the U.S. border and bodies of water. In fact, the Lower Mainland is surrounded by water in the form of rivers, oceans and lakes.
Are we ignoring this abundant supply of water that can offer more affordable home options in desirable locations? I’m not talking about a derelict sailboat bobbing on ancho -

Belpark's Vancouver location offers green spaces and urban conveniences
Parks and golf courses, with their swathes of green space, enhance livability as cities become more dense and natural outlooks harder to find. Belpark, Intracorp’s 120-home development currently under construction on Vancouver’s west side, benefits from the Langara Golf Course to the north and Winona Park to the south.
However, while the green spaces enhance the location at 375 West 59th Avenue, the development is only a block from Cambie Street and close to urban amenities including -
Fort Langley: Charming community has a unique village feel
Not to be confused with the Township of Langley (of which it’s a part) or the City of Langley (of which it’s not), Fort Langley is the kind of idyllic village that is becoming extinct.
Nestled on the banks of the Fraser River to the north and surrounded by agricultural land, the town has managed to keep its old-world charm. Instead of big-box stores and chains, residents and visitors shop and dine at independent shops and restaurants. In the town centre, a three-storey building is co -
Brian Minter: How to create an artistic outdoor garden container
There’s an exciting trend today in outdoor containers. Rather than simply plants in a pot, containers are being designed more as an art form. This trend is part of a larger movement creating garden art. At the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival in Seattle this past February, there was more emphasis on incorporating art into outdoor living spaces.
One element critical to any art form is the focal point. Where does your eye go first when you look at a container? What demands your attention -

Herschel Supply Company co-founder's art-filled refuge in North Vancouver
Lyndon Cormack’s laidback retreat overlooking Indian Arm evokes both a nostalgic and modern vibe. Kitchen dining chairs by Fritz Hansen; Blu Dot dining table; and over it all, the vintage canoe once paddled by the former owner, the artist Susan Macdonald.

One Central an aptly named Surrey highrise
If there’s one thing people in Metro Vancouver know about Surrey, it is that it’s growing fast. One Central, Aoyuan Property Group’s imposing 550-home residential tower, is set to be a big part of Surrey’s transformation and a landmark on the city’s rapidly evolving skyline.
The 44-storey building will be located right in the centre of the downtown core, hence its name.

B.C.'s worst wildfire seasons were in 2017 and 2018. What will happen in 2019?
Ester Spye finally moved into her new home in October, 14 months after a relentless 2017 wildfire blew through the Ashcroft Indian Band, forcing residents to flee and devouring nine houses.
Spye and her dog Sweets took refuge in a Cache Creek hotel shortly after the July 2017 inferno destroyed their house, and stayed there until it was rebuilt more than a year later.
