VANCOUVER — A book about surviving in the outdoors has been returned to a B.C. library branch more than four decades after it was checked out.
The book, “Wilderness Living: A Complete Handbook and Guide to Pioneering in North America,” was borrowed from the Union Bay branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library in 1977.
It was returned anonymously to the Courtenay branch last Monday.

Teen dies in targeted assault in Vancouver
via vancouversun.comVancouver police are investigating the death of a Vancouver teenager Friday night in the city’s Strathcona neighbourhood as a homicide.
Investigators say the 19-year-old man was assaulted with a weapon near Jackson Avenue and Princess Street shortly after 9 p.m.
Police believe the attack was targeted.
Several witnesses called 911 and the victim was taken to hospital, where he later died.
He has been identified as 19-year-old Vancouver resident Dakota Skye Wildman.
No arrests have been made -
