$7.5M, 5-year federal program to help Surrey divert youth from gang life

Bill Blair, minister of border security and organized crime reduction, and Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan made the announcement Tuesday in Surrey.
The funds will support the Surrey Anti-Gang Family Empowerment Program, a collaborative project aimed at reaching youth at risk of joining gangs.

Invented by James Caleb Jackson in 1863 and named “granula,” the first cold breakfast cereal was made out of graham flour dough, rolled into sheets and baked.

via vancouversun.comNANAIMO — Tilray Inc. says it will acquire Natura Naturals Holdings Inc. for up to $70 million, a deal which roughly doubles the licensed cannabis producer’s domestic cultivation capacity.
Under the agreement, Tilray will obtain Natura’s 61,500-square-metre greenhouse cultivation facility, of which 14,400 square metres is licensed.
Natura is a licensed cultivator under the Cannabis Act through a wholly-owned subsidiary located in Leamington, Ont.

Homicide up 25 per cent, but crime dips in Surrey: RCMP report
via theprovince.comThe number of homicides was up 25 per cent in Surrey last year, but overall crime dipped, according to a Surrey RCMP report.
Mounties said there were 15 homicides in 2018, up from 12 the year before.
Overall crime decreased though by four per cent, according to the report. The report notes the city experienced 38 shots fired files, down 36 per cent from 2017 and 57 per cent from 2015.
