The Agricultural Land Commission has ordered Powell River to remove a road built on protected agricultural land without permission, which could end up costing the city nearly $600,000.
Hemlock St. runs through and adjacent to Timberlane Estates, a 33-parcel subdivision in which Mayor Dave Formosa has an ownership stake.
While the road occupies less than a hectare of land, the ALC ordered the road removed by next September after the city’s proposal for retroactive approval for non-farm

Fisheries and Oceans Minister Jonathan Wilkinson says the decision means key foraging locations for the endangered whales are protected from destruction.

No suspension coming from NHL for Martel hit on Stecher
via theprovince.comTroy Stecher may have left the ice woozy on Tuesday night following a hit by Danick Martel, but the National Hockey League’s department of player safety isn’t interested in considering a suspension for the hit.
